As an Independent Consultant to the MID AMERICA POLYCLINIC in Overland Park, KS, Dr. Diwan developed addiction medicine practice among opioid dependent patients in the outpatient setting by instituting evidence based protocols and standard of care management as well as introducing substance abuse evaluation and counseling as part of Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder in addition to other longstanding addictions as well with patients utilizing opioids for chronic pain to identify yet untreated comorbid psychiatric disorders which may have led or contributed to substance abuse. Dr. Diwan developed protocols and standards of care for patients prescribed opioids who are suffering from chronic pain syndrome in order to maximize patient safety, function, and to reduce the risk of opioid tolerance, opioid induced hyperalgesia and overdose based on CDC and other professional guidelines. Successfully reduced majority of patients on high dose opioids to less than or equal to 90 MME’s.

Dr. Diwan is a partner at the PIEDMONT FAMILY PRACTICE, PLC in Warrenton, VA. Dr. Diwan built successful practice over a 2 year period by providing longitudinal care in both the In-patient and Out-patient settings. Delivered services in the Newborn Nursery, ICU, Nursing Home and Outpatient Clinic. Dr. Diwan developed Pain Management Practice offering Interventional Treatments and Medical Management. Dr. Diwan established specialty Opiate Dependency/Addiction Medicine Practice.
