Joanne Davis is a Loudoun County resident of 24 years, living in a 1750s farmhouse near the town of Hillsboro. She’s a retired Program Manager and Software Systems Engineer who loves helping nonprofits and businesses find appropriate affordable and sustainable software solutions.
After obtaining a degree from George Mason in Computer Science, Joanne was part of a small team who brought the NeXT computer to a large Federal Government agency in the early 90s. After spending several years as a manager supervising contractors, she left the Government to apply the programming skills she had learned to deliver several full-stack systems for DoD, FEMA, and DHS.
While supporting a large development group in the DoD, Joanne met Melissa Hinton in 2006. When Melissa mentioned starting Loudoun Serenity House to fill the critical need of recovery housing in Loudoun County, Joanne was excited to pitch in. She helps with Fundraising, the IT systems for website, donor management and engagement, events planning and occasional house projects. The mission of the Loudoun Serenity House closely aligns with Joanne’s desire to assist both those with Substance Use Disorder and the friends and families who are affected by the disorder.
In retirement, Joanne, her husband Jeff and dog Katie have logged over 20,000 miles towing an RV up and down the East Coast with plans to head West in the next year. Joanne loves travel, sailing, hiking, kayaking, biking, gardening, reading and especially spending time with her wonderful grandson Jack.
